Hello everybody,

 

First of all, I would like to mention that I am not a coin collector, but I am very interested in antiquity, regardless of whether it is textiles, coins, ceramics or simply history itself. Since I am also geographically from the region, I really wanted to have two coins. And I newly got these too.

 

It is important to me to understand whether these are genuine or not, because unfortunately I cannot check it. If so, then of course I think it's great. The value of the coins would be another question, but I care less since I won't be doing any business with them.

 

This one from Ephesus is about 19 mm and weighs 3.57 g.

J'avais demandé sur le sujet initial, ensuite supprimé car non conforme (2 monnaies dans le même message), le nom du vendeur. Burasi.ege me l'a transmis en mp pour ne pas jeter l'opprobre en cas de vente d'un faux de bonne foi. J'ai le nom, je me contente juste de dire qu'il s'agit d'une maison a priori très sérieuse.

I have absolutely no doubt your coin is genuine, it really looks like, and weight and diameter are perfect. This magistrate is not the most frequent! Very nice coin.

elle est très bien gravée par rapport à d'autres drachmes et en très bon état, mais c'est la photo d'un pro, qui peut facilement être flatteuse.

Les photos ne semblent pas être les mêmes, bien que la monnaie le soit. Revente rapide ?

les photos sont les mêmes, celles de burasi sont seulement un peu plus claires.

il n'a pas dit qu'il demandait une identification mais demande si elle est authentique. si elle a été vendue et revendue par deux pros c'est qu'elle est ok.

I also believe the coin is the same. On the one hand, I find the displayed price surprisingly low, on the other hand, I typed in €775 for this, so that it cost me around €900 with the surcharge. Would such a price be unfair? Or is it Ok? If you all say the coin is authentic and in good condition, I wouldn't really want to return it or resell it...

It is authentic and in rather good condition. The main part is that this magistrate seems to be rare. The question is "how many people will pay more for a coin of this precise magistrate rather than the more frequent ones". It seems 190 euros is for people who do not care about the magistrate, just the general type, and 775 is for specialized numismatists. But it is not a scroogery. You have what you paid for: a rare coin. YOU did not know it was so rare in a family in which other members are more frequent. If it is a problem for you, you just had to search on 2 or 3 sellers'websites before buying... The seller did his job normally.

I agree with the type and the price of the coin, especially since I was looking for exactly this coin apart from its magistrate. My question is more or less to gather other educated opinions. I am grateful to you for this.

Today I tried to research further and in fact I don't see this magistrate anywhere else. Did you also come up with the fact that this should be a rare coin from the same region? I'm also trying to learn and understand a bit.
